White-collar criminal Joachim Posener, recently released from prison, has a dream. He wants to give his five-year-old son everything.

He wants to build an empire, become powerful and respected. He wants to prove to his parents that he can accomplish something. His only friend is his extravagant cousin Thomas Jisander. Together they party hard, dream big and make illegal business plans. They call themselves ”Golden Boys”. To reach his dream Posener commits Sweden’s largest ever fraud, with Jisander as his accomplice. But when a journalist starts investigating their affairs, the ground under their feet starts shaking.
